DG Then & Now - The Elevons
Concorde has six elevons (the control surfaces on the trailing edge of the wings) and each of these consists of two separate panels bolted together. Of the twelve now fitted to Delta Golf, very few are original to the aircraft and actually came from British Airways stock of spares. Most of the elevons needed some level of restoration prior to being fitted to DG, including things such as repairs to minor damage and, of course, sanding and painting. Also, some of the panels were missing the brackets needed to attach them to the wings and these were constructed by volunteers from BA Engineering and also volunteers at Surrey University.
