DG Then & Now - Inside
Delta Golf's interior has been completely transformed from the empty shell that arrived at Brooklands in June 2004. In the forward cabin many of the interior fixtures and fittings have been installed (galleys, toilets, wardrobes etc), along with the cabin wall panels, the window blinds and cover trims and ceiling panels. This was followed by the fitting of the passenger service units (reading lights, call buttons, air conditioning vents etc), luggage bins, new carpet and 40 seats. To enhance the 'Concorde Experience' tour, the forward cabin has been fitted with a large video screen and sound system.
In the rear cabin, the bulkhead between the rear cargo hold and passenger cabin was removed to allow access to the aircraft via the cargo hold door. The floor panels have been replaced throughout and the cargo hold has had aluminium sheeting fitted as added protection to the new floor panels. A wooden framework structure was then constructed and new ceiling panels fitted to it. The structure also houses the display lighting and supports for the exhibition displays that fill the majority of the rear cabin.
In the cockpit, the restoration team have fitted all the instruments into the various intrument panels, the 'ram horn' control yokes, the four crew seats (two pilot's seats, the flight engineer's seat and the jump seat), the celing trim panels and new floor panels.
