DG Then & Now - The Tail Fin & Rudders
Delta Golf's tail fin was removed in 1988 when she was stored at Filton. A new purpose-built hangar had been constructed to house the aircraft but it had specifically been designed to only be high enough to accomodate DG without her fin. Doing this halved the cost of the building. After the small amount of restoration worked necessary had been completed, volunteers painted the fin with the Union Flag of the British Airways 'Negus & Negus' livery that DG wore throughout her operational life. The fin and the (also repainted) twin rudders were fitted in June 2006 with the assistance of former Concorde engineers from BA Engineering. These were the last major components of DG's rebuild to be refitted.
